About Zeptonn
Hello, my name is Jan Willem Wennekes, also known as Zeptonn. After having received my degrees in Artificial Intelligence (2002) and Philosophy (2006, specialized in the brilliant Ludwig Wittgenstein) at the University of Groningen, I am now working as a freelance Illustrative Designer and Art Director.
What motivates my work
I am very much motivated by eco-friendly and environmental projects. In my work I aim to convey positivism and try to bring a smile to your face. When taking on a commission I approach the project from different angles to get a good understanding of what needs to be communicated. This helps me to simplify and emphasize the goal of the project and create a stronger and more fitting illustration or design.
The kind of projects I take on
I enjoy working on a variety of projects ranging from illustration and graphic design to art direction and organising projects. I am interested in eco-friendly projects and ways to help communicate these. I also love to collaborate, so feel free to contact me if you have something in mind. Summing up my work
My work can be characterized as positive, eco-friendly, simple/naive, wacky, colourful, fantasy-rich and illustrative. It can be recognized by the hand drawn elements, sweet patterns and curvy linework. And you might find a creature popping up here or there.
Where I work
My workspace is part of Studio Pats, a collective studio in the lovely town of Groningen, the Netherlands. This is where I like to draw, sketch, think, eat, drink lots of fairtrade coffee and generally, have fun.
